    Hacker Laws

    Hacker Laws

Laws, theories, principles and patterns useful to developers

Laws, Theories, Principles and Patterns that developers will find useful. There are lots of laws which people discuss when talking about development. This repository is a reference and overview of some of the most common ones. Principles and laws to follow such as: If a program is made up of two parts, part A, which must be executed by a single processor, and part B, which can be parallelised, then we see that adding multiple processors to the system executing the program can only have a limited benefit. It can potentially greatly improve the speed of part B - but the speed of part A will remain unchanged. Also, theories like The Broken Windows Theory, which suggests that visible signs of crime (or lack of care of an environment) lead to further and more serious crimes (or further deterioration of the environment). Conway's Law suggests that the technical boundaries of a system will reflect the structure of the organisation. These among others, are featured in this project.

Each chapter is a standalone Jupyter notebook, with runnable code, explanatory prose, visuals, and examples showing how to handle data-wrangling, exploratory data analysis, machine learning workflows, and visualization. The repository is freely available and the code is released under the MIT license; the textual content is released under a Creative Commons license. Users can also launch the notebooks in Google Colab or Binder directly, making it extremely accessible.

    Agora Flat

    Agora Flat

Project flat is the Web, Windows and macOS client of Agora Flat

Agora Flat Open Source Virtual Classroom. Battery included online tutoring tools for teachers & freelance trainers. Build real-time interactive virtual classroom with ease from our open-sourced projects. Agora Flat was born out of an exploratory project in which we investigated customer needs and user experience. After receiving good internal feedback, we believe that Flat has the potential to become an online classroom product that can really help people and have a good user experience. We hope that through Flat the transfer cost of knowledge can be reduced a little. We knew that our power alone wasn’t enough, so we decided to open source, give as many developers as possible the opportunity to participate, and let the ideas and power of the community nourish Flat until it becomes something useful. Flat is currently under heavy development. It still grows up day by day. We are very happy to share this joy with you.

    Bats-core

    Bats-core

    Bash automated testing system

Bats is a TAP-compliant testing framework for Bash. It provides a simple way to verify that the UNIX programs you write behave as expected. A Bats test file is a Bash script with special syntax for defining test cases. Under the hood, each test case is just a function with a description. Bats is most useful when testing software is written in Bash, but you can use it to test any UNIX program. Test cases consist of standard shell commands. Bats makes use of Bash's errexit (set -e) option when running test cases. If every command in the test case exits with a 0 status code (success), the test passes. In this way, each line is an assertion of truth. The Bats source code repository is hosted on GitHub. There you can file bugs on the issue tracker or submit tested pull requests for review.

    Litmus

Litmus helps SREs and developers practice chaos engineering

LitmusChaos is an open source Chaos Engineering platform that enables teams to identify weaknesses & potential outages in infrastructures by inducing chaos tests in a controlled way. Developers & SREs can practice Chaos Engineering with Litmus as it is easy to use, based on modern chaos engineering principles & community collaboration. It is 100% open source & a CNCF project. Litmus takes a cloud-native approach to create, manage and monitor chaos. The platform itself runs as a set of microservices and uses Kubernetes custom resources to define the chaos intent, as well as the steady-state hypothesis. A centralized chaos management tool called chaos-center helps construct, schedule, and visualize Litmus chaos workflows. Made up of a chaos agent and multiple operators that execute & monitor the experiment within a defined target Kubernetes environment.

    Little Book of Linear Algebra

    Little Book of Linear Algebra

A concise, beginner-friendly introduction to the core ideas of linear

This is a concise, beginner-friendly introduction to the fundamental concepts of linear algebra, intended to give readers intuition without overwhelming detail. The material is organized into chapters covering vectors, matrices, linear systems, vector spaces, eigenvalues/eigenvectors, and other central topics, each with worked examples and explanations. There is also a companion “LAB” section for hands-on exploration (e.g. using Python/NumPy) to help cement the connections between algebraic formulas and computational behavior. The exposition aims to sit between a pop-math summary and a heavy textbook: definitions and key theorems are stated cleanly, while proofs are sometimes omitted or sketched to keep the flow digestible. Because of its brevity and clarity, it's especially useful as a first pass for learners who want a solid map of the subject before diving into full textbooks.

Ray Tracing in One Weekend Book Series

Ray Tracing in One Weekend Book Series

The Ray Tracing in One Weekend series of books

The Ray Tracing in One Weekend series of books are now available to the public for free online. They are now released under the CC0 license. This means that they are as close to public domain as we can get. (While that also frees you from the requirement of providing attribution, it would help the overall project if you could point back to this web site as a service to other users.) These books are formatted for printing directly from your browser, where you can also (on most browsers) save them as PDF. In Ray Tracing in One Weekend, you will build a simple brute-force path tracer. Continuing with Ray Tracing: The Next Week, you will add textures, volumes (like fog), rectangles, instances, lights, and support for lots of objects using a bounding volume hierarchy (BVH). Finally, with Ray Tracing: The Rest Of Your Life, we'll dive into the math of creating a very serious ray tracer.
