NetMon_Cisco_to_SQL.py is a basic network performance monitoring and logging script for Cisco devices. It gathers parameters (CPU Utilization, Used Processor Memory, Used IO Memory, UP Ethernet Interfaces density, in percent velues) from Cisco routers by parsing command outputs and exports them to a MySQL database. NetMon_Query.py is a query script for the MySQL database in the form of an interactive menu for generating statistics. Equally, we didn't have the foresight or the money to purchase an snmp managed router, so we are unable to strip the traffic information from the router itself, rather we have to rely on the logging into our ISP, to discover if we are approaching the bandwidth limit. Bandwidth logger, runs a daemon that notes how much traffic is passing through your network interface. Bandwidth logger was written to install on a system using 'systemd' but can be configured to run under 'upstart'. An upstart script "/usr/share/bandwidth/bandwidth.upstart.conf" is included but will have to installed manually for those using 'upstart'.

OSPF_SNMP_v1.0.py is an OSPF network discovery script. It allows the discovery of all OSPF network devices in the network, without connecting to each of them or knowing all their IP addresses. The user must provide the IP and SNMP community string of a single OSPF device in the network (for example, a device in the core) and the script searches for all other OSPF routers. Prior to running the script, the user should configure SNMPv2 community string on the device and also include the subnet between his PC and the router into the OSPF process, so he has IP connectivity to all other OSPF nodes. After providing necessary info and the OSPF info is gathered, the user has three choices: display the OSPF routers info on the screen, export the data to a file for Excel importing and generate the OSPF topology showing neighborships, router IDs and neighbor IPs. Archangel is meant to be a sort of 'improved' version of dansguardian and uses the same default lists as dansguardian. It is basically dansguardian rewritten in python as an ICAP server as opposed to a proxy front-end. The benefits of archangel over dansguardian include: 1. Because it is an ICAP filter, it interfaces with squid and can do HTTPS filtering as well as regular HTTP. 2. Because it uses blocking modules and is written in python, it is extremely easy to write new modules for very complex, intensive blocking. I have already written a module that does content-based blocking of youtube videos. Archangel uses the pyicap library to implement the ICAP functionality. The blockpage requires use of the PHP 5.4.x CLI. In order to do HTTPS filtering, you must first install squid compiled with SSL support and configure it to talk to archangel.
