He has often said that he is “trying to make Ruby natural, not simple,” in a way that mirrors life. Since its public release in 1995, Ruby has drawn devoted coders worldwide. In 2006, Ruby achieved mass acceptance. With active user groups formed in the world’s major cities and Ruby-related conferences filled to capacity. Ruby-Talk, the primary mailing list for discussion of the Ruby language, climbed to an average of 200 messages per day in 2006. It has dropped in recent years as the size of the community pushed discussion from one central list into many smaller groups. -

tmuxinator
Manage complex tmux sessions easily
tmuxinator aims to be compatible with the currently maintained versions of Ruby. Some operating systems may provide an unsupported version of Ruby as their "system ruby". In these cases, users should use RVM or rbenv to install a supported Ruby version and use that version's gem binary to install tmuxinator. tmuxinator uses your shell's default editor for opening files. If you want to change your default editor simply put a line in ~/.bashrc that changes it. The recommended version of tmux to use is 1.8 or later, with the exception of 2.5, which is not supported (see issue 536 for details). Your mileage may vary for earlier versions. Refer to the FAQ for any odd behaviour. Your distribution's package manager may install the completion files in the appropriate location for the completion to load automatically on startup. -

Use scopes to create sections of mutually exclusive resources for quick navigation and reporting. Add buttons, links or other content in the “Action Items” section on each screen. Index screens are available in many styles. The default, shown here, is a table view, but Active Admin also supports Grids, Blocks and a Blog view. Allow users to filter resources by searching strings, text fields, dates, and numeric values. Customize the sidebar sections with a simple DSL built in to Active Admin. -

Errbit
The open source error catcher that's Airbrake API compliant
Errbit is a tool for collecting and managing errors from other applications. It is Airbrake API compliant, so if you are already using Airbrake, you can just point the airbrake gem to your Errbit server. The way Errbit arranges notices into error groups is configurable. By default, Errbit uses the notice's error class, error message, complete backtrace, component (or controller), action and environment name to generate a unique fingerprint for every notice. Notices with identical fingerprints appear in the UI as different occurences of the same error and notices with differing fingerprints are displayed as separate errors. Following the recommendation of 12factor.net, Errbit takes all of its configuration from environment variables. You can use dotenv, which is included in the Gemfile, to fill in any values that you can't or won't supply through the environment. -

A query batching executor for the graphql gem. Provides an executor for the graphql gem which allows queries to be batched. Define a custom loader, which is initialized with arguments that are used for grouping and a perform method for performing the batch load. Use GraphQL::Batch as a plugin in your schema after specifying the mutation so that GraphQL::Batch can extend the mutation fields to clear the cache after they are resolved. The loader class can be used from the resolver for a graphql field by calling .for with the grouping arguments to get a loader instance, then call .load on that instance with the key to load. Although this library doesn't have a dependency on active record, the examples directory has record and association loaders for active record which handles edge cases like type-casting ids. GraphQL::Batch::Loader#load returns a Promise using the promise.rb gem to provide a promise-based API, so you can transform the query results using .then. -

Improves typography on your Jekyll site using typogruby, titlecase, and some other useful functions. Converts an ampersand (ex. &) converts a & surrounded by optional whitespace or a non-breaking space to the HTML entity and surrounds it in a span with a styled class. Surrounds two or more consecutive capital letters, perhaps with interspersed digits and periods in a span with a styled class. Typogruby cap module doesn't support having hyphens so there is a custom module. Converts special characters (excluding HTML tags) to HTML entities. Encloses initial single or double quotes, or their entities (optionally preceded by a block element and perhaps an inline element) with a span that can be styled. Applies smartpants to a given piece of text. Replaces space(s) before the last word (or tag before the last word) before an optional closing element (a, em, span, strong) before a closing tag (p, h[1-6], li, dt, dd) or the end of the string. -

Linguist
Detect blob languages, suppress generated files and generate graphs
This library is used on GitHub.com to detect blob languages, ignore binary or vendored files, suppress generated files in diffs, and generate language breakdown graphs. Linguist is a Ruby library so you will need a recent version of Ruby installed. There are known problems with the macOS/XCode supplied version of Ruby that causes problems installing some of the dependencies. Accordingly, we highly recommend you install a version of Ruby using Homebrew, rbenv, rvm, ruby-build, asdf or other packaging system, before attempting to install Linguist and the dependencies. Linguist uses charlock_holmes for character encoding and rugged for libgit2 bindings for Ruby. These components have their own dependencies. A repository's languages stats can also be assessed from the command line using the github-linguist executable. Without any options, github-linguist will output the breakdown that correlates to what is shown in the language stats bar. -

Links to passwords expire after a certain number of views and/or time has passed. Only enter a password into the box. Other identifying information can compromise security. All passwords are encrypted prior to storage and are available to only those with the secret link. Once expired, encrypted passwords are unequivocally deleted from the database. -

Puma
A Ruby/Rack web server built for concurrency
Unlike other Ruby Webservers, Puma was built for speed and parallelism. Puma is a small library that provides a very fast and concurrent HTTP 1.1 server for Ruby web applications. It is designed for running Rack apps only. What makes Puma so fast is the careful use of a Ragel extension to provide fast, accurate HTTP 1.1 protocol parsing. This makes the server scream without too many portability issues. If you are using Bundler, just add Puma to your project's Gemfile. Once you've installed your bundle, start Puma. If you are not using Bundler, you can install Puma directly from the command line. On MRI, there is a Global VM Lock (GVL) that ensures only one thread can run Ruby code at a time. But if you're doing a lot of blocking IO (such as HTTP calls to external APIs like Twitter), Puma still improves MRI's throughput by allowing IO waiting to be done in parallel. -
