This is an Eclipse xml editor with several edition capabilities. The main features concern the interaction with the classes and resources declared in xml (Open class/resource, Create class), similar to the interaction between classes in java editor.

TextMarker is now developed and hosted at Apache UIMA (http://uima.apache.org/textmarker.html). TextMarker is a UIMA-based tool for information extraction and more. The full featured editor of the rule language and the build process of UIMA descriptors are complemented with components for visualization, explanation, testing and rule learning.

With MajiX you can automatically transform RTF files (Microsoft Word files) in XML. MajiX is Java compliant. You can convert Headings, lists (numbered or not), tables, bold, italics, underline and some more.

Any2XML allows the controlled conversion from any textfile to an XML file. In the editor (GUI), rules are added to define which parts of the textfile are processed and where they are put in the resulting XML file.

The DITA Open Platform is a free, open-source project which goal is to provide an enterprise platform for the edition, management and processing of DITA documents.

FileCut is a simple easy-to-use cross-platform application to cut to a given line and then join any text file. It is also possible to join in normal or reverse order. Works also from command-line interface, e.g. 'java -jar filecut.jar -c file.txt . 10', to cut 'file.txt' at line 10, and 'java -jar filecut.jar -j . >file.txt', to join files in the current directory in 'file.txt'. FileCut is portable, does not need installation and is developed in Java, so needs the Java Virtual Machine (version 6 or higher) that, in the case, is very easy to download and install.

“Musaheb”, an Arabic collocation extraction tool that has been designed and implemented to overcome the limitations of existing collocation extraction tools. “Musaheb” is able to extract n-gram collocations up to 5-gram, in addition to extracting the collocates of the nodes (the word-types we are looking for its collocates) within a window size of zero to 15 words. Moreover, it provides eight collocation statistics to calculate the strength of the collocation, and permits the input of various constraints during node selection and collocate extraction. Based on the user preferences for the node, concordance and collocates selection, the tool saves all nodes and their associated collocates in an XML file; allowing easy conversion to different formats.

This a text editor which has the option to save the content as a PDF document. It can also read existing .rtf documents and render them in the editor. These can then be saved as PDF there by providing a converter from RTF to PDF format.

The Xerlin project is a Java™ based XML editor that can run on any Java 2 virtual machine. The application is extensible via custom editor interfaces. Xerlin can be used to provide simple, intuitive interfaces for users who know nothing about XML.

PCSecrets is a PC application that holds secret text data - protected by a master password and strong encryption. Use it as a password manager or just somewhere to hold any text data securely in one place. It can hold a second, hidden set of secrets that is undetectable and plausibly deniable. The program is also a PC counterpart of the Secrets for Android app. It uses the same data structure and provides synchronization that allows easy transfer of secrets between the two. For those who find the personal computer environment more comfortable for data entry and editing (i.e. a real keyboard), PCSecrets provides an alternative way to manage your secrets. Sync is also effectively a form of backup. To enable the sync feature with Secrets for Android, you need to install the PCSecrets Sync app, downloadable from SourceForge or Google Play. PCSecrets import plus PCSecrets Sync provides a route to importing secret data into Secrets for Android that would not otherwise be possible.

A simple open source platform in Java supporting add-ins. Add-ins for text, and for syntax highlighting source code are provided. Aesop is a fledgling Eclipse wannabe looking for add-in developers. Aesop makes use of JEditTextArea and JavaHelp.

AESTextCrypt is an easy-to-use open source tool for text encryption and decryption. Primarily intended for use with email, use it wherever you need to protect text from prying eyes. The encrypted text can be copy/pasted into any text-handling application (e.g. email) instead of plain text. Convenience buttons are provided for clipboard operations. AESTextCrypt uses AES-256 bit encryption which is the strongest available encryption scheme. It also employs bcrypt, which implements key-stretching and an adaptive key setup phase, the complexity (number of rounds) of which is automatically set to match the processing power of the encrypting computer. This makes it highly resistant to dictionary attack. AESTextCrypt is written in Java, so can be run on all desktop platforms - Windows, Mac and Linux.
