Looks like hidden symbols display tuned on.
To turn off check menu Tools - Options - LibreOffice Writer/Web - Formatting Aids.
Or press this button on picture.

Hi,

I've just installed Anaphraseus and restarted LibreOffice 24.2.5.2 (X86_64).

But I don't see the menu item or the icon.

In the extension manager I read: "To create Anaphraseus' menu use "Create Anaphrases' Menu and Toolbar button."

But I don't understand where I have to do this.

Glad to hear it start working :)
Let me start to answer from the last question. With usage of Java, TMs load, TMX export, word search in the memory go much faster. Also there is no limit of TM size (depends only on the computer memory available). Querying online translation engines such as Google Translator and Microsoft Bing also use Java and not available for non-Java version.

Main idea is to get "meaningful" part of word discarding end of it (let say 10%) and count how many times it appear in sentence. For example word "counting" we strip end of it and get "count". Then check it appearance in sentence. Of course it will not work well for China and Japanese languages :)
If you looking for more advanced method I can point to Levenshtein distance https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levenshtein_distance
In time we develop Anaphraseus we though about it but with Basic it took to many time to calculate, so we stick to home made solution :)

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question.

LO 6.0.1 crashed on opening the Settings (Preferences). I had to update to 6.4.7.2 to see and set them. After that, Anaphraseus presented the third and second sentence too.

I must say: quite impressive how you managed to add DeepL support :).

I'm familiar with the macro language of Ms Word and I would like to study the code of Anaphraseus to learn from you. I'm especially interested in how Anaphrases compares the current source segment with the source segments in the TM via fuzzy matching. Where in all code should I look to see how this works? (It's kind of a hobby project for me to learn this.)

One more question: if I remember correctly, Anaphraseus originially didn't require Java. What do you use Java for in the later versions?

Hello Hans,

I'm back.
In order for Anaphraseus to work in LibreOffice some initial setup required.
Please open menus Tools → Options → LibreOffice Writer → Formatting Aids: all 'hidden text' entries have to be checked on. Please check attached screenshot.

The error above usually shows up if there other translation session in other document opened.
To fix just close all translation sessions.

I wanted to revisit Anaphraseus again after many years. I'm using macOS High Sierra and downloaded LO 6.0.0.1. I installed Anaphraseus (latest version). First segment works alright, but when I click the first button or press Alt+down, I get an error message:
