For more details, see the blog entry here:

http://blog.bitpedia.org/2006/07/15/jbitcollider-java-bitcollider/

Bitcollider 0.6.0 release

The first official Bitcollider release in over a year is now available for download.

Notable additions to this release:

Bitcollider calculates and submits the KZHASH identifier used by the latest (2.6) versions of Kazaa and Grokster. (MAGNET links at the Bitzi website will include this identifier whenever it is available.)

A video format plugin is included and extracts
information such as framerate, framesize, duration, bitrate, and codec from most AVI, MPEG1, MPEG2, and QuickTime videos. (Thanks to bitizen Delirium for this code!)

A problem in the original construction of the TigerTree hash value has been corrected. (Only
values from updated software will be retained at the Bitzi website.)

Calculation of MD5 and CRC32 values is now optional, controllable by command-line options (or for the Windows GUI version, registry settings).

The Bitcollider source code should now compile and run properly on Mac OS X. (It may still be necessary to manually open the submission HTML file in a web browser. We welcome suggestions from Mac users on the proper next steps to create a native installer, and to integrate fully with the desktop and default browser.)

As always, the Bitcollider source code is released to the public domain, for the widest possible community reuse.

We look forward to your questions, comments, and suggestions. Thanks for your support of the Bitzi project!

- The Bitzi Team (copied from http://bitzi.com/bboard/message?message_id=171857&forum_id=53085)

bitcollider 0.5.1 (0.6 release candidate)

Several new changes have been made to the "bitcollider" CVS module:

* MD5 and CRC32 calculation are now options. For the command-line 'bitcollider', they are enabled via the '--md5' and '--crc32' flags. For the Windows graphical (and shell-integrated) Bitcollider, they are enabled via the registry: set the keys 'CalculateCRC32' or 'CalculateMD5' under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bitzi to the DWORD value 1 to calculate, 0 or undefined to not calculate.
* Dialog labelling in the Windows graphical Bitcollider has been updated for clarity.

These are in addition to changes from the past year, not reflected in the last 0.4.0 official release, which include:

* The Video metadata extraction plug-in, contributed by user Delirium. (See this message for details.)
* Corrected TigerTree calculation, in accordance with the THEX specification, version 2.

We would appreciate it if users who are capable of building their own Bitcollider from CVS would fetch the latest sources (or the "candidate_0_5_1" tag) and verify correct operation in their usual system configurations.

Barring discovered problems, this code will become the official release "Bitcollider 0.6", with convenient installers, in the next few weeks.
