Compo 3 is available as a beta version

This major version includes many new features (phrasing, accentuation,

The beta test of compo 3 starts now, and will going on during the first
quarter of 2002. This beta test is open to any person whishing to
participate to this validation stage. Just contact me at

compo-3.0 under construction

It seemed important to us to give you already now informations about the current state of compo V3, and about the date of deliver we set ourselves.

The increment on the version number is justified first by the amount of evolutions that are being brought : the expressive richness in musical description aims to cover a large part of those of existing occidental music and Jazz scores. The effort made in midi restitution should allow to appreciate at the aural level all these expressive shades, and obtain already rich midi files, with virtually the ability to control each of your synthetizer parameters, directly at the compo script level.

The increment on the version number, though, is also justified by a deep reengeneering of the system. Despite of this, we make a real effort to avoid as possible to question the language syntax. Thus, some of the current turns which finally appeared to us rather unpracticle will be adapted, our goal being to keep our language as simple and natural as possible.

We fixed ourselves the end of 2001 as a target date to propose compo 3.0 as a beta-test. It's a rather ambitious challenge but we will really try to be
there in time.

compo 2.1 publically available - compo 2.1 dsormais public

compo 2.1 is now available as a public release.
From now on, and since 2.0, you can principally enter lyrics and have them printed under the score staves, tie several parts on a same staff and have more control on the formating of your scores.
A few improvements in the compo language syntax have been made and a few bugs have been corrected.
The reference documentation has been completed in order to reflect this change.

Par rapport 2.0, vous pouvez dsormais faire figurer du texte sous chaque porte de la partition, regrouper plusieurs voix sur la mme porte et avoir un meilleur contrle du formatage de la partition.
Quelques amliorations ont t apportes dans la syntaxe du langage et quelques bugs ont t corrigs.
La documentation de rfrence a t complte afin de reflter ces changements.

compo-2.0 tested on Linux

Thanks to Gerhard ZINTEL, compo-2.0 has been validated on a Linux platform (Debian Distribution). Previously, compo had been validated on Mac OS and Windows.
