We recommend use of TightVNC or Vinagre, which just plain works on the windows and linux frionts, and yet we can't find any mac software that will connect to our VNC server, other than realVNC enterprise (which is pricey).

Is COTVNC non standard and only works for its own server? Is there some bug? We'd be happy to work with the COTVNC developers to try to work out why this is the case, so we'd have software for our mac users that we could recommend.

Switching spaces breaks mouse in COTVNC

When I switch between spaces in Snow Leopard (10.6) and come back to the space that the VNC window is in, my mouse clicks are ALL interpreted as "move" commands by the VNC session. My VNC host is a Red Hat Linux machine running KDE.
I am trying to connect to Veency on my iPhone. This happens when I move my mouse on my Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard over the chicken of the vnc window showing my iphone

key-up event lost when using command-control-arrow

When switching to another Space from CotVNC, if I switch back, there is a command/control keydown event stuck in the vnc console (linux in my case), which causes confusion if you start typing letters. I believe this gets mapped to the "windows" key in my linux console (judging by the behavior). It would be nice if CotVNC would not allow itself to lose focus without sending keyup events for any current keydowns.

Current workaround is to just press command or control whenever CotVNC gains focus, just in case there are stuck events (sending one seems to clear out the rest).

Unknown Rectangle Encoding in 2.0b4

The unknown rectangle encoding bug is still happening in 2.0b4. I\'m connecting to a virtual console on my xen server and constantly get the unknown rectangle errors while typing. Attached is a screenshot of the problem with Chicken version number shown in About window.

high port ranges not handled

In version 2.0b4, when a high port number is specified (such as foo.com::10203), cotvnc returns an error saying 'could not connect to display 0'. It seems that there is a port number range check somewhere that rejects valid, though unusual, port numbers.
Hacking the connection by specifying 'port_num - 5900' for the display (in my example, 4303) makes a valid connection.

Drag window (rectangle copy), stops updating display

Some VNC servers use various accelerator commands, rather than just sending pixels, to reduce bandwidth. There is some rectangle copy function that Chicken of the VNC (2.0b4) can't handle. I can reproduce it every time like this:

(1) Set up qemu-kvm (v0.11.1) on a Linux box
(2) Configure the display to use VNC mode
(3) Install Ubuntu (the latest version... 9.10?)
(4) Open a terminal on an otherwise default desktop
(5) Drag the window around

Observed behavior:
Chicken immediately stops accepting commands from the VNC server. The mouse pointer works, and it appears that mouse and keyboard events are being sent to the server. But no updates appear on the screen. If I close the connection and reconnect, it's fine again until I try to drag the window.

Note that this isn't a bad command from the server. JollysfastVNC handles it just fine. Unfortunately, that client isn't quite as nice as Chicken.
