log checkouts and updates

I like spyware! Is it possible to log the checkout
operations? (Specially for outside users I would give
access too)

NOTE: bah it ain't really important .. just piling
ideas here

if the branch is not HEAD, identify it

possibly, have some per-branch customization/preferences?
such as emails NOT to send to when the commit happens
on this branch etc.?
