It would be very nice to add a confirmation popup.

When the user clicks on "Change resolution" the resution is changed and just after that a popup appears. "Resolution was changed to 1280x1024. Do you want to keep this settings?"
a button "OK" save the setting (or do nothing it's up to you) and "Cancel" revert the resolution to the previous one.

at the bottom of the popup there is also a countdown message "Reverting resolution in 9s" meaning that if for any reason the user do not confirm (black screen pb etc.) the resolution is automatically reverted to the working one.

To reproduce this one:

1. go to periscope depth
2. scope up
3. select target when available (on map_display F5). The notepad is then shown on right-bottom corner of the screen.
4. go the submarine down more than periscope depth. All visible objects disappear from the map display, but the notepad is still there showing you 'real time' information.

To hide the notepad is easy: just include:
&& (sub_player->get_depth() <= sub_player->get_periscope_depth()) &&
sub_player->is_scope_up()

in map_display::display method, when asking if target != 0 when drawin the notepad:
// draw notepad sheet giving target distance, speed and course
if (target )

resulting:
// draw notepad sheet giving target distance, speed and course
if (target && (sub_player->get_depth() <= sub_player->get_periscope_depth()) &&
sub_player->is_scope_up() ) {

The point is: the notepad should disappear or should show the last info just before summerging?

Other point is: the target should be kept if we lose sight of it? Because it is supposed that we cannot fire torpedoes if we do not have a target....
