alarm stricter compilers, cause inefficiencies, and -- sometimes <br />
-- crashes. </p>
<p>The attached patch gets rid of all of the grotesque 65K buffers <br />
found in various functions, adds &quot;const&quot; in some of the apropriate <br />
places, removes insultingly gratuitous strlen() invocations from <br />
some loops and so on... </p>
<p>Please, take a look at the patch and let me know if you have <br />
problems with or questions about particular hunks. </p>
