I am a bit confused about DL's jail service? Is it similar to FreeBSD
jail or something else?

I'm not familiar with the BSD jail. We simply use a standard linux  
chroot jail (which is further secured by the grsecurity features). All  
DL does is provide a wrapper scripts for creating the jails. There's  
lots of documentation out on the web about Linux chroot jails.
