DIA responsiviness problem due to # Fonts Ubuntu 24.04 installs

FYI for the dev's.
I've seen quite a few posts in my research of this problem from others also experiencing it. My guess is the responsiveness issue maybe related to how DIA's editor loads/uses
Fonts.

Several years ago I used the DIA Diagram Editor a lot for diagramming networks etc. It was a great simple to use tool!

A couple years went by where I'd not needed to use DIA.
During that time Ubuntu 24.04 LTS was released!
In the past couple months I'd been working on a project that I needed to produce some diagrams for again and started to use DIA again.

But for some reason DIA's performance when entering/editing Text was really terrible, with long delay's between a "click" and an action.

I had been searching for any info on reports of this and any possible fixes.

Today I discovered the fix and it had to do with the massive amount of Font's that are enabled in Ubuntu.

So following the Tip I read & I installed the application font-manager.

$ sudo apt -y install font-manager

The fix...
Run font-manager and disable all fonts but the ones you actually use!

After that DIA's performance was great again for me!

I am using dia and after migrating from Xubuntu22.04 to xubuntu 24.04 dia is so slow that it has become unusable. Any suggestion would be welcome.

I have solved the issue. I opened the recovered .dia file by clicking on the .dia file itself. The layers were not showing. But when I opened dia by clicking the dia.exe and then open the recovered file from File menue, then the layers were shown.

However, After I recovered the .autosave file (by renaming .dia.autosave to .dia), It seems that I lost all of the layers I had in the diagram. The diagram is recovered successfully but I can't select any sub-diagram on different layers.

Is there a way to find where the layers or recover them?

1. XQUARTZ: why? well, without it DIA.app will not get installed

Dia.app: Of course

CotEditor: From AppStore, this one will be useful later on to edit code.

Install process
steap 1: Install XQUARTZ, easy piace acept temrs and contions and hit next.
steap 2: Install DIA, don't try to open DIA once installcion is done, follow instructions from this blog http://navkirats.blogspot.com/2014/10/dia-diagram-mac-osx-yosemite-fix-i-use.html
(This is where you going to need Cot Editor, since I strongly suggest this app to edit the code correctly, if you try to use another app you may edit the wrong line, remember this code should be entered on line #40 "export DISPLAY=:0"

steap 3: Dran DIA icon to descktop so you can have a shorcut.

and that's the way 100% garantee it will work now.

Flowchart Box Property "draw background" not working

Hi,
I am using version 0.97.3+git on Debian 10.
On Flowchart Box Properties, when setting Draw background to NO, a background is still drawn.
Am I doing anything wrong or is this a bug? Please help.

Hello,

I am surprised that .vsdx is not yet supported in DIA. Could you please add this support in so we can open the OpenXML vsdx format?

Love the software but this is the only format missing from your software and I receive .vsdx format from work to open my documents.
