Team HERMES is looking for Java developers to help bring the WireShare project into compliance with modern versions of Java (11 at the earliest). With perhaps fifty thousand man-hours behind it, WireShare is one of the few remaining Gnutella clients in semi-active development, and certainly the richest in features.
Unfortunately, our only active Java developer left the project last year, while I was at university and therefore not paying as much attention as I should've. We're looking for someone who could pick up where he left off.
This project is shovel-ready; it compiles and runs perfectly, but under an old version of Java, and Apache Ant. Some of the methods are incompatible with modern Java, but it is my belief that they can be "written around".
