Hello,

Currently we have the option to delete or keep a message.
Would it be possible to add folders and to archive messages so that it will not stay in the "inbox" but also not be deleted.

AJAX enabled searchbox

Would it be possbile to AJAXify the search box so that you get some results while you start typing?
Take for example a look on this website: http://www.genealogieonline.nl/stamboom-lehrer/ and look at the "snelzoeken" box.

Well...
Now when you have tested the Torture file, I can ask you to consider this.

The header contains a note, a description of the content of the GEDCOM file.
Genmod import it and also export it. But, where can we see that? Or even edit it?

As fare as I know, everybody is using the "News" block for giving a description or an "About this GEDCOM".

While the header contains this information there is no way to take advantage of that.
Not many programs are using it actually. To bad....

Why use the News block for this? A news is something like "A found my grandpa!" :)
And a description belongs within the GEDCOM file.

This and many other reasons are my explanation why we should use a common, what-ever torture file.
If something is missing from the torture file (MAP), than add it and just let us know where we can download it.

Real life GEDCOM's. There are no such thing! :)
A real life GEDCOM is no more than what a program allows.

Hence this feature request.

We can have a very, very, very loong discussion. But I do believe that this is the best thing to do.

About the zip file you had problem with.
One of the image was a screen dump of the ID 'PERSON1'.
That gives a mess on the individual page, because the second name structure.
Now, back to the real life GEDCOM. I could use the second name structure but I can use only what the program allows.

I have opened an account on the forum. Let me know if you wish to discuss this matter further. I could give you more examples :)

Reorder FCOM fact

Hi,

I found something on the indi's page. Small thing...

The order of some fact's are may not be correct.

There is a fact FCOM witch ends up after CONF if FCOM has no date.
Now, first comes always FCOM w/wo date than CONF.

Using different port

Hi,

It is possible to install and use Genmod on different port's like SSL or whatever port the user wants to use. This can be added manually to the config file after the installation.

However, wouldn't it be nice if this could be added or changed during the installation?
As it is today, the installation ignores or don't recognize the port where I actually install Genmod.
Genmod always assumes that I use the normal http port 80.

Meta keywords field size

The size of the Meta Keyword field in the gedcom settings is only 64 chars. Should be at least double to ebter sufficient keywords.

Add/edit link in help popups

At this moment, some of the help texts in Genmod are either not present or are not translated yet. It would be very useful to add:

1. A link in a help popup. to add a new help text in English, if not present.

2. A link in a help popup, to add/edit the translation of the help text.

Import emergency syslog

When the database is not accessible, the error is written to the file emergency_syslog.txt. The message on the admin page, informing the admin that such file exists, should be a link, importing the error message into the database and deleting the file.

Remove PEAR::DB

Since MySQL is the only supported database, PEAR::DB is
no longer needed as it is too much overhead.

Source citation for all events

When entering a new child/father/mother/spouse to an
individual, several facts can be entered. The
associated source citation in the edit form only
references to the new individual itself, not to the
additionally entered facts like birth, death, etc. The
result is, that after entering a new individual, the
source citations for these facts must me entered
separately. On the form for a new indi there should be
the option to let the souce citation reference to all
entered facts.
