Ugh - I don't remember all of the minor changes I made. I'll do a diff on a bunch of the files and make some decent comments. In the meantime, I'll attach the entire package. I renamed it, so you should be able to easily run this alongside the original.

For the optimal "movie-like" settings, I do the following:

GAME:
Players = 1
AI Opponents = 3

GAME -> GAME RULES:
Level = movie (new level)
Erase Dead Players = on
Wall Acceleration = on

GAME -> PLAY SETTINGS:
Camera Mode = offset
Viewports = single

VIDEO:
Artpack: movie

VIDEO -> SCREEN:
Resolution: 1600 x 1024

VIDEO -> HUD:
All off

I'm not sure how much of these I can set as defaults through the config or artpack.lua file. Was thinking about making a stripped-down version that only allows these ^^^ things so it would play as a bare-bones TRON Lightcycles game. But, as you say, that may run us into problems of copyright issues (although no money is being made from this, so I can't imagine anyone would come knocking?)

New movie art set?

Thanks. Looks nice! Not sure if posting it here is feasible due to copyright concerns, but we can always try, or maybe you can provide a link to the files.

Which files did you have to change outside the artpack folder?

Also, I should probably change the code that renders the trail, the part connecting to the lightcycle is not bright enough. At some point I will need to figure out how to sign binaries properly so Gatekeeper does not complain. I've been playing a bit with the iOS port a few years ago, which made me realize that I probably need to redo the entire UI for touch screens.

New movie art set?

Howdy. I know this is an old dicsussion about an even older game - but wondered if anyone would have any interest in a new art set that (tries to) completely mimics the 1982 movie. This version of a lightcycle game is still the best out there, and I always liked it. I recently dug it up and started playing it again, and was inspired to make it as close to the movie as I could. I think I've come pretty close. I had to (at least I think I had to) alter a few lines in a couple of files outside of the artpack folder, so it ain't as easy as simply dropping a new folder into the art directory. If there is any interest, I'll post it here so y'all can have some fun with it. Added music and sounds from the originl soundtrack as well!

"Wall busting" - Game design questions

Cool

"Wall busting" - Game design questions

Nice discussion

HRTF 3D positional audio feature support

Thank you for creating this game! If implemented well, 3D positional audio can GREATLY improve immersion. Check out for instance this video with headphones: American McGee's Alice with 3D spatial sound (OpenAL Soft HRTF audio)

The link on the official site's down.
Thanks in advance!

Android builds gone wild.

The "official port" is a Java conversion of the 0.70 codebase by Iain Churcher. The source code is at https://github.com/Chluverman/android-gltron, thus being GPL compliant, and the playstore version is at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.glTron, this version is free and doesn't contain ads.

Porting the changes in the code base again to Java is not really feasible, the only way to maintain a port would be through the NDK. However, I lack the NDK expertise to do so. If someone would make a preliminary port, I could incorporate the changes back into the main codebase to make future updates easier.
