It represents a stable
snapshot of the beta Gnaural2 that has been debugged for over a
year.

Binary installers are available for Windows (.exe), Debian/Ubuntu (.deb), and MacOS X (.dmg)
And the source code is available for compilation on other POSIX platforms in a tar.gz archive. All these can be downloaded here:
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=149086&package_id=165544

What is Gnaural?

Gnaural is a sound synthesizer/editor designed to create, edit and
play binaural beats.

Abilities and features in Gnaural version 1.0.20080808 include:
- Edit schedule files using a GUI with multiple graph views for volume, stereo-spread, beat frequency, and base frequency
- Play sound through your computer or export to over a dozen audio file formats
- Synchronize sessions over the Internet with other Gnaural users (to simultaneously meditate!)
- Play unlimited simultaneous voices (including audio Files)
- Communicate with other applications (to control auxiliary devices, like flashers, for example)
- Customize the Glade-based GUI
- Drag 'n' Drop functionality

Gnaural 1.0 repesents a fundamental rewrite of the old Gnaural's code,
and the resulting program can be thought of as a sound
synthesizer that overlaps the old Gnaural's functionality, rather
than solely a dedicated Binaural Beat generator. You can create
some truly bizarre and amazing sounds with Gnaural 1.0.

NOTE: Gnaural uses LibGlade to generate it's GUI, so the editable file
"Gnaural.glade" must be kept somewhere in a path that "Gnaural" can
search.

March 2008: Gnaural2 (beta 9) Released!

A stable beta version of Gnaural2 (currently beta8, Feb 2008) is available in the File section, with packaged binaries for Windows (.exe) and Debian (.deb), and POSIX source code for everybody else. It was an entire rewrite of the code. Some of the new features include:

- Ability to synchronize sessions with other Gnaural2 users across the internet
- Unlimited voices (which can now also be Audio Files, like WAV, FLAC, AU, AIFF)
- Ability to export sound to over a dozen audio file formats
- Multiple graph views to control volume, stereo-spread, beat, and base frequency
- Drag 'n' Drop functionality
- Use of LibGlade (so user can customize the GUI with a text editor)
- Ability to communicate with other applications (so Gnaural2 can control auxiliary devices; for example, a photoic flasher)

Gnaural2 does everything Gnaural-the-first does, but much, much more. In many ways, it is best thought of as a sound synthesizer, providing a uniquely non-linear approach to sculpting sound. Within minutes, you can create some truly unearthly and surreal soundscapes.

Gnaural2 can be download here:
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=149086&package_id=238160

Just like the original Gnaural, you'll need the GTK+ runtime libraries, available for Windows here:
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html
(NOTE: GTK+ comes pre-installed on basically all Linux distributions).

A brief intro and tutorial for Gnaural2 is here:
https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=63293&group_id=149086

For an idea of what's possible, see these example schedules:
http://pantheon.yale.edu/%7Ebbl2/GnauralExampleFiles.html#Gnaural2Soundscapes

Here is someone using Gnaural2 for musical composition:

Lastly, here is a screenshot of a non-meditative schedule designed to stress the audio engine:
