<div class="markdown_content"><p>After a development hiatus, I am in the process of preparing the next release of gSpiceUI. Over<br/> the past year or two, significant issues have arisen with the wxWidgets/GTK toolkit. However, with<br/> the latest release of the wxWidgets/GTK toolkit, these problems appear to have been resolved so<br/> development has recommenced.</p> <p>I have also investigated whether there is still a need for a tool like gSpiceUI. While there are<br/> alternatives (eg. KiCad or Qucs) that offer more integrated solutions, a need still remains in the<br/> context of Lepton-EDA and Ringdove-EDA (since gEDA is no longer maintained), as they do not yet<br/> provide simulation functionality. Additionally, gSpiceUI offers a relatively straight forward GUI<br/> for NG-Spice and GNU-Cap which can be used to evaluate these simulation engines.</p> <p>For the time being, I have decided to focus on fixing bugs and ensuring that the existing features<br/> and functions work as intended. This will involve responding to bug reports from users as well as<br/> reviewing my own bug lists. I don't expect there will be much in the way of new features. However<br/> there will be at least one notable exception ie. implementing Gnuplot as a data viewing utility.</p> <p>The current release has not been fully tested, but it should be fundamentally sound. Any feedback<br/> from users would be greatly appreciated.</p></div>
