No functionalities have been added, no bugs have been fixed. Sorry, the project is old... no time to maintain...

Don't even know if it builds on all distributions. I'll try to make it build at least on ubuntu and debian distributions. Works on gentoo linux.

IPFIRE-wall 1.99.8 released

IPFIRE-wall 1.99.8 adds support for linux kernel 2.6.32.
No other changes are involved.
Update if you need support for that kernel version.

IPFIRE-wall 1.99.7 released

On Wednesday, November, 4th, the release IPFIRE-wall-1.99.7 was released.
This version supports ubuntu 9.10 with its new 2.6.31 kernel.

No updates involve the "iqfire" graphical interface.

People who installed ubuntu or kubuntu 9.10 are interested in the
upgrade, and everyone who is running kernel 2.6.31.

IPFIRE-wall-1.99.6 released

IPFIRE-wall version 1.99.6 has been released on 2009-31-08.
The most relevant changes concern kernel code:
- checksum calculation reviewed and optimized;
- fragmented packets are now correctly treated and reassembled before being processed. This ensures that no network packet is lost during firewall operations (ipfi_defrag)
- basic support for IPPROTO_GRE: network layer only;

Changes in GUI:
- improved kernel state tables representation: the rule name field is now shown in the 11th column of the widget;
- corrected a bug in the Rule View right click->add rule menu;
- plots improved;
- started migration of system tray messages towards KDE4 KNotification system (will be visible in the next release).

Try it and provide feedback!

Corrections to ubuntu-8.10 installer

First corrections to the ubuntu-8.10 ipfire-wall installer.

IPFIRE-wall-0.99.4 for Ubuntu 8.10 and older!

IPFIRE-wall-0.99.4 has been packaged into two versions for ubuntu users:
- ipfire-wall-0.99.4ubuntu_8.10_i386.deb, for fresh ubuntu 8.10 intrepid installations, and
- IPFIRE-wall-0.99.4ubuntu_source.deb for other ubuntu versions (8.04 and 7.10 too, the latter only if KDE4 repositories are enabled).

The second package builds ipfire-wall from its sources, first installing all dependencies needed, while the second installs binary packages for the executables, but still compiling kernel sources. The last choice has been done so that it is easy to install ipfire-wall also after various distribution updates, that often change the kernel version.

Have fun now with easy ipfire-wall installing.

IPFIRE-wall-0.99.4 released

Released IPFIRE-wall-0.99.4, with support for kernel 2.6.28 and corrections made to OUTPUT DNAT checksum calculation.

1. editing /etc/sources.list:
* adding unstable and experimental branches:

deb ftp://ftp.it.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
deb ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/ experimental main contrib non-free

2. executing `apt-get update'

3. executing apt-get install libqt4-core libqt4-dev kdelibs5 kdelibs5-dev libqwt5-qt4 libqwt5-qt4-dev

4. Installing some components of kde4 necessary to run iqifre-wall in a minimal kde4 environment:
- aptitute -t experimental install kdebase-runtime konsole

5. Installed IPFIRE-wall by executing
`./install.sh debian'
from the main directory of the unpacked tar.gz archive.

That's all.

iqfire-wall is in CVS repository

iqfire-wall is not already complete: some documentation is missing and the software is frequently updated to correct bugs and improve some feature...
