OleStr cannot convert to Date

When I try to convert my XLS file into an XML file my column of dates forces an error box that says:

Could not convert variant of type (OleStr) into type (Date)

now, since I need these in the form of a date MM/DD/YYYY is there a workaround?

Excel import error

When I try to import an excel spreadsheet, an error
message box appears, with no message in it, and an
empty XML editing window appears (i.e. with no xml in it).

Also, when a "share violation" occurs (when the
spreadsheet is already open in excel itsself), a
message box comes up stating the problem, but then an
empty xml editing window appears when it would be
logical for one not to appear, because the spreadsheet
has not been loaded.

Not Saving When XML Is Badly Formed

If the XML sgment is badly formed, and you click the
right-hand 'save' button, then the button doesn't
disappear as normal, because it hasn't saved it. There
is an error mesage in the status bar, but that isn't
very obvious. If it isn't going to save it, it ought to
notify you with a message box.
However, it does enable the left-hand 'save' button,
despite the fact that nothing has changed. Clicking
that then disables the right-hand 'save' button, which
is wrong because the segment currently open hasn't been
saved.
Also, the error message in the status bar doesn't
disappear when the problem has been rectified, so you
can never be sure if the error message there is from
your last action or from earlier. It ought to clear the
status bar, or tell you your last action's result,
wheneer you do anything like saving or switching segments.

Maximise New Sub-Windows

When the sub-windows (each XML file) are maximised, and
you open a new file, then they all "restore", but leave
the minimise, restore & close buttons on the toolbar.
When you switch windows it maximises them again.
When opening a new file, it should maximise the new
window if the current windows are maximised.

Dragging nodes

When dragging a node to the same position that it is
currently in still asks you whether you want to move it
there. This is getting annoying as I use a tablet
instead of a mouse, so mwhen I double-click, the two
clicks are usually a few pixels apart, so it thinks I'm
trying to drag it.

Extra Newlines

Extra new lines are added sometimes. I can't quite work
out what action causes them, but it seems to be when I
switch between which element I am editing.

Range Check Error on closing slash

Complains of 'Range Check Error' when typing a closing
slash after a space at the end of an empty tag (such as
<br /> or <xsl:with-param name="file" select="." />).

Cut & copy in XML window doesn't work

In the XML window (right window that displays raw XML)
I cannot cut/copy anything to the clipboard. I can copy
elements from XML data, and paste this into the XML
view, but cannot copy and paste within the XML view.

Cannot focus invisible window in Detail

After click in detail view, error message List index
out of bound appears and program freezes.

New file is saved as new.xml

After creating new file iXedit should launch "Save as".
Standard "Save as ..." dialog should allow user to save
file under new name.
