For now do this: Download binary package from mysql.com <a href="http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/" rel="nofollow">http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/</a> (it should be mysql 5.5 community server, higher than 5.5 can be unpredictable - and of course 64bit, mysql-5.5.50-linux2.6-x86_64.tar.gz - read INSTALL.txt carefully).
