by domain - in spite of my telling an ad manager to not
use them until I had set up fast DNS caching on the
local host, she did. At 500,000 inpmressions per hour
with 2 campaign using these controls, the server came
to it's knees pretty fast.

the relevent lines in oasisi-e.php
test\_delivery\_controls\(\) are:

    elseif \($type == 'domain'\) \{
      $testvar = @gethostbyaddr \($\_SERVER\['REMOTE\_ADDR'\]\);

I submit this is a fairly serious risk.

I can readily imagine 2 ways to deal with this: one is
to handle it entirely on the management interface. Make
a toggle for the Oasis admin to allow or suppress the
domain-based delivery control. On reflection, I suspect
it is common for non-technical staff to enter delivery
controls, and even have access to the oasis web
management interface to be able to reload the server.
So even though there would be one more step, said ad
manager might decide to disregard the technical staff
and enable domain-based delivery controls even when the
server was not able to handle the load.

I would like it if there was an oasis environment
variable that had to be explicitly set before
domain-based delivery controls were tested by the
delivery engine:

   elseif \($type == 'domain' && get\_oasis\_env
\('oasis\_allow\_dnsqueries'\)\) \{
      $testvar = @gethostbyaddr \($\_SERVER\['REMOTE\_ADDR'\]\);

It would be nice if the delivery control UI would show
or suppress the doamin option on the basis of this
switch, but IMO not necessary.

The virtue of this approach is that it leave control of
this capability in the hands of the web server admin
who is more likely in a position to determin if the
server can support the load.

Port to PostgreSQL

Hello,
