Also, though not as important (but likewise useful) to limit the number of entries shown by number (like limit the sample population displayed on the diagram to the first 5 entries) or even by minimum rows necessary for significance (like if my sample population is significant, but has more data than is need to prove that, so it could determine which rows, probably in order or randomly, are necessary to convey a significant population, and those are the ones shown in the diagram).

Full Free Software Version (Linux support)

NORMA is open source - but that does not make a difference unless it is bound to MS Visual Studio which is not open source! Up to now there is no usable open source tool that supports ORM - for this reason ORM will still be ignored by the vast majority of developers. If your model is bound to a specific vendor, you cannot create free software by ORM modeling. ORM may be better compared to UML and ER, but the lack of tools reverses all of its advantages. For this reason a linux port of NORMA is highly needed.

Allowing the deletion of subtype shape from the diagram

Sometimes it is necessary to show subtypes in a page but not in another, where the same objects are present but reflecting other facts

Page Renaming Improvements

A few suggestions for renaming pages:

# After adding a new page, if the page is renamable, have it highlighed so users can just start typing their desired page name.

# Allow users to click on a page tab and press F2 to make the name become editable.

# Allow users to rename a page by clicing on it then clicking on it again so it becomes editable.

In large models, though, it can be a bit overwhelming.

Is there a way to segment that report by diagram? That way, anyone attempting to validate it would have manageable chunks to work with.

Easily Manipulating of Pages

When I wish to add a new page as the second page of a 30-page model, it would be nice to be able to add it there, or at least drag and drop to reorder the pages. As of the June release, 'New Page' is always added to the end. To manipulate the page order, I need to edit the order of the XML elements in the .orm file.

Also, when there is a large number of pages, right-clicking to rename or delete do not work anymore. I did find a way around renaming by double-clicking, but the only way to delete a page is to edit the XML.

Easy way to create role constraints

Hi all,

A suggestion for an easy way to set role-constraints.

1. Click to select role
2. [Shift] Click to select another role
3. Repeat step 2 for as many roles in a n-ary role constraint that you want to select.
4. Press the 'U' key on the keyboard to create a role constraint against the roles that you have selected.

A demonstration can be found at:

Taking a look at the meta model in SVN, it was apparent that there needs to be a way to easily find a given ORM model page (looks like about 50 pages in this model - a lot to scroll through, even though they are well named). Maybe the "Document Outline" view feature of VS 2005 could be used, if putting page references in the Object Browser is not appropriate. I guess for now, we can add a page number to the page title to make it easier to get to the proper page faster, but that doesn't seem very ORM like to me. Something tells me that this is an easy thing to ask for, but not trival to implement. It would be great if there was a way to have data type validation in the sample population editor - so that a 10 digit entry for an Object ref of SSN (9 digit fixed length integer datatype), would be caught on entry.
Better yet, if validation would allow 123-45-6789 for the same datatype (just an example - not what I'd do). A similar way to have 1112223333, (111) 222-3333, both valid US phone numbers, but not (1111) 222-3333.
I'm not at all sure how much is appropriate to the tool, or is practical, but some way of getting more real world sample data into the model, more accurately and easily, would be very useful.
