The cache now populates correctly, but the second problem persist:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;While mugen mode works on version 3.6.0, it doesn't work on version 3.6.1 if you are using a 64bit Ubuntu 14.04. It seems that 3.6.1 version is not able at all to write in  $HOME/.paintown/mugen-cache.&lt;br /&gt;
