WHAT'S NEW

PeaZip reaches major release 11.0.0, which consolidates the 10.x line evolution with bugfixes, code cleanup, and file / archive manager improvements.
The new release speeds up archive browsing, enhances Bookmarks and internal drag and drop (it is now possible to drag&drop items to Tabs and Breadcrumb bar), improves zoom and fractional scaling, supports alternative rendering styles for icons, adds new functions for batch archives testing and password entropy rating.
Backend are updated to 7z/p7zip 26.00 and Pea 1.30.
Sources are compiled with Lazarus 4.2, and are still compatible with Lazarus 3.x and 2.x.

A total of 242 file extensions are supported for being opened as archives.

WHAT IS PEAZIP

PeaZip is an Open Source (LGPLv3), cross-platform (BSD, Linux, macOS, Windows) archive manager and file manager utility, written with Lazarus / FreePascal IDE, which works as a GUI command line scripts generation engine for 7z/p7zip, Brotli, Zpaq, Zstd and other open source CLI archiving and compression tools.

This allows either to:

use PeaZip as an interactive GUI application, as alternative to WinRar, WinZip, 7-Zip and similar apps), or
use PeaZip to save tasks as batch CLI scripts for later use (for fine tuning beyond GUI's capabilities, learning the syntax, or re-use and automation purposes) to make easier to create and edit batch archiving / backup / unarchiving tasks.

Create (compress to): 7Z, Brotli, BZip2, GZip, PAQ, PEA, RAR (if Rar.exe or equivalent is available), TAR, WIM, XZ (LZMA2), ZIP, Zstd files, SFX self-extracting archives, and spanned archives (001 split files)

Open, browse, decompress / extract: RAR, ACE, APPX, APK, ARJ, CAB, DMG, IPA, ISO, JAR, LHA, MSI, UDF, ZIPX files and many more...
PeaZip can also try to open as archives arbitrary file types, if the structure is based on known standards, to access to internal resources.

Built-in archive conversion: convert or consolidate existing archives, from any read-supported to any write-supported type, e.g .rar to .zip or .7z conversion.

The program provides strong encryption with optional two factor authentication (encrypt with password and keyfile) for any supported format implementing encryption, encrypted password manager, random password / keyfile generation, secure data deletion, hashing and checksum functions, tabbed browsing, bookmarks, thumbnails and image viewer, and search inside archives.

WHAT'S NEW

PeaZip 10.8.0 overhauls previewing items inside archives, enabling preview features for more archive formats (open with associated application or with custom apps), adding option to preview items with "File tools" functions (checksum / hash, meta-scan, hex and text preview), and with the integrated image viewer.
Alongside many other updates and fixes the new release improves handling RAR and TAR archives, backend are updated with Pea 1.28 and Brotli 1.2.0.

WHAT'S NEW

10.7.0 release improves the file manager: more capable dynamic virtual mode on macOS, ability to display image's thumbnails on all platforms, new option to show thumbnails on request, and new integrated text viewer and image viewer tools.

WHAT'S NEW

Release 10.5.0 brings a major update in the file manager, boosting archive browsing performances, improving archive editing, adding new functions to prevent running a custom list of file extensions without confirmation, and to hide or show hidden files.

On macOS all file browser styles and icon sizes are now available as on other platforms.

On Windows it is now possible to explore NTFS Alternate Data Streams to gather additional information on files, including a dedicated tools to batch scan the input for Zone.Identifier (Mark of The Web) to detect files coming from remote systems.
