Security setting "Masked" is reset after opening database

OS: Palm OS Garnet 5.4.9 (used in German)
pilot DB: DB v.1.0.3

1. Set database as private.
2. Menu > Options > Security: Mask Private Entries
3. database is masked
4. open database (with password), close database again
5. database is unmasked, Options setting is back to "Show entries"

How come?

E2 soft reset crash: Pref DB Open

I'm running into a crash during a soft reset after any time that I run DB on
my Palm Tungsten E2.

1. Open DB from the launcher
2. Switch back to the launcher
3. Perform a soft reset, either with reset pin or something like EZReset
4. Crash!
Preferences.c, Line 263:
Pref DB Open error!

This occurs immediately after a soft reset, and it only occurs if I open DB.
I can reproduce this 100% on my device, but the error does not occur if I
perform a warm reset. I removed all plugins, and the error still occurs.

display / grafitti pad issues with Garmin iQue 3600

I've found 2 quirks on my iQue 3600, I'll log each
separately. Both relate to the soft-grafitti area in
one way or another.

The ique 3600 has a large screen, with a "soft"
grafitti area, which can be popped down to make more space.

If you pop up the grafitti pad, and then pop it down
again, the list of records at the bottom of the screen
is NOT repainted, nor are the "back arrow", the "filter
list" or the scroll arrows. (However, if you remember
their locations, they do work correctly, and THAT item
does get repainted ok.

Scrolling (either by tapping the arrow, or by a button)
does repaint the lines of data in the bottom 1/4 of the
screens (but not the menu items).

Doing something to repaint the whole screen fixes the
problem (until you pop up the grafitti pad again!)

The same issue is present in the "view record details"
page, as well as on the initial "select database" page.

If you choose to "modify" a record, then the grafitti
pad automatically pops up, but now has a white
rectangle where the "modify" button was. (popping down
then up the grafitti pad clears that)

If you use the "find" function, then the grafitti pad
does NOT automatically pop up (another bug???)... you
do that manually, and see the reported problem again.

If you "change the viewed fields" (top right pulldown
menu), then the full screen is repainted.... and if you
happened to have the grafitti pad popped up, it is
incorrectly over-painted (but is still just visible
where the "back" / "new" / "filter" etc options don't
completely cover the bottom lines). Although
over-painted, it still functions.

(If you use the "keyboard" option at any time, then the
upper part of the screen repaints correctly as expected.)

So, there seems to be confusion in lower 1/4 of the
screen, caused by a "fight" between the grafitti pad,
and the bottom rows of data.

Version of Pilot-DB is 1.1.3, PalmOS is 5.2.1r3

When a database is opened from the PalmOS main menu,
there are 2 ways the program can go:

a) if you previously exitted back via the "select
database" menu, then you get to the "select database
menu. When you choose the database, you get a record
listing page, and the "view grafitti pad" arrow down
the bottom is operational

b) if you previously "jumped" out of the program (eg by
hitting the "main menu" icon) then you go straight back
into the previous database, to the record listing
page... but the "view grafitti pad" arrow down the
bottom is greyed-out and is thus non-operational

However, doing anything (find, view record data....)
and returning back to the "record listing" page causes
the "view grafitti pad" arrow to become "normal again,
allowing you to pop up the grafitti pad.

(using the grafitti pad causes other issues, which I'll
log seperately)

Version of Pilot-DB is 1.1.3, PalmOS is 5.2.1r3

Pilot-DB version: DB v. 1.1.3 (14 Feb 2005)

My device: Handspring Visor with Palm OS v. 3.5.2H3.0

My database design:
field 0: string
field 1: float
field 2: float
field 3: string
field 4: calculated
field 5: string
field 6: string

I have received the following error several times when
*modifying* field 6 of a record:
DataMgr.c, Line: 7025, DmWrite:DmWriteCheck failed

The error message also displays a Reset button, which
when pressed does nothing. After I receive the error
message, the on/off button on my device doesn't work,
so I am forced to do a soft reset.

My database has approximately 50 records. I thought
perhaps I was entering a string that had too many
characters; my string consisted of about 30 characters.
But the documentation indicates that:
Text Fields
This field corresponds to a line of up to 256 editable
characters including the linefeed.

* Nearly no icon displayed on any screen; replaced by
buttons that overlap each other

In version 1.2 the Specific fields view (ie: all view,
abc view) is larger and overlaps the title bar.

No Keyboard or menu possible in memo

pilot-db: v 1.1.3
PalmOS: v 3.5.0

When editing a "memo", I can't swich on the normal Palm
software keyboard (via the symbol in the lower left of
the graffity area).

Threre also is no ("Edit"-)menu with standart things
like "undo", "cut", "copy", "paste", "Select All",
"Keyboard" and "Graffiti-Help"... like it is present
when editing other kinds of fields.

(I know one could also see this as a feature reqest and
not a bug, but I think this is so disturbing that it is
one)

Wrong font management

If I select other that basic PalmOS font, the behaviour
is incorrect. Especially in editing record. Pilot-DB
uses selected font linespacing but draws standard
PalmOS fonts. This is problem in case of using smaller
then stadard font - pilot-DB draws lines each over other...
Correct behaviour should be either using linespacing
from standard font or drawing form using selected font...
