as said, move away the windows plugins then rescan; the missing native plugins are probably due to you're cancelling the scan process.

and it's not about that partition hasn't changed, it suffices to be an upgrade or slight change in configuration in WINE to get it all borked.

Like I said, nothing has been changed in the system. It is a partition (and OS) I use exclusively for music, and I did not even boot into it for a long time.

I need those bridged windows plugins. I need their sounds. And they were working. Why do they stop working so mysteriously?

Also, I pointed out native Linux plugins that Qtractor can't find either. Why does that happen? The answer to that would probably solve the other one. The real central issue is, why does Qtractor become unable to load an old project?

are you sure nothing changed on your system? lin-vst uses wine for the bridging, and wine is long known to give you some headaches now and then and every time you update or upgrade :)

for the sake of sanity please don't put bridged windows plugins (.dll->.so) in the same path read by qtractor at least.

I tried to create a new track and insert those plugins. And then I had to wait for Qtractor to re-scan everything all over again. That took a very long time, and 'ps aux' showed me that Qtractor leaves an awful lot of Windows/lin-vst plugins running in background forever. I had to kill them all myself after a while.

When it finished, I saw that all plugins at /usr/lib/vst/ were visible and I added three, they worked. But none of my Windows/lin-vst plugins were listed so I couldn't add any of them. Very strange again, because I used to be able to add them. They still load and work on Waveform.

Either way, the old projects use Windows/lin-vst plugins, but also use native Linux plugins from /usr/lib/vst/, but those fail to load too (see screenshot). All of them fail.

are you the plugin files are still there and executable? if yes test them with ldd to check if some system library is missing is missing... also test to load them in a new session alone.

also what qtractor version ? and what changed (in your system) since you last worked successfully with those plugins?

I stopped using Qtractor for a few months, now I just ran it again, opened an old project and Qtractor fails to find the plugins. Very strange because this is a special purpose "studio" partition that is never changed, and all the plugins are still there, it's easy to confirm. Is there something I can do to recover those projects?

Feature Request: Chord Input for the MIDI Editor

Piano roll's/editors in other sequencers like LMMS, Seq42 and Helio have the option to allow the user to input predefined chords without needing to input each note manually. I think it would be a cool addition to Qtractor's MIDI editor :)

I know it works with a native installation, but Debian 12 provides the stable version (0.9.31-1).
Does your ppa provides the latest version (1.4.0-1) ?

try the native build or package, not the .AppImage.

check the (my) repos or the ppa's.
