Arguably, the sybase jdbc driver is broken, but I'm not going to hold my breath for a fix so it seems to make more sense for Bookmark.filterQuoteName to default to the same casing that was passed. If this causes problems for other databases, then maybe it would make sense for the db adapter class to provide the flag based on its metadata, then it could be overriden for broken implementations like sybase.&lt;br /&gt;

Currently, all international characters get corrupted when exporting to Excel, because cell encoding is not properly set. This patch modifies so that cell.setEncoding(HSSFCell.ENCODING_UTF_16) is called when data contains multi-byte characters. Please see Question 13 of POI FAQ: &lt;a href="http://poi.apache.org/faq.html" rel="nofollow"&gt;http://poi.apache.org/faq.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This patch also corrects line separators in Excel exports. Line separators used in Excel is LF.
