Use STDIN.gets without STDOUT.flush

I discovered your RDE IDE while online. I am using it and love it. There are quit a bit about it I am still trying to understand, mainly all the menu items. But my main problem as of now is having to use STDOUT.flush before getting keyboard input. Example:

print "Enter your name: "
answer = STDIN.gets.chop!
puts "Thank you #{answer} for attending today."

This will not print to screen unless I enter it in this way:

print "Enter your name: "
STDOUT.flush
answer = STDIN.gets.chop!
puts "Thank you #{answer} for attending today."

Again this is a wonderful IDE. It would be great to have an English manual so I can get all the great benefits the IDE has in store for users.

Watch List or User Selected Variable

First off - THANKS.

I really like RDE. It is a nice quick and easy IDE for me to work with while learning Ruby.

I would like another tab on the Variable window. One that could be called a watch list or User Selected Variables.

I think it is great that you put all the variables in the Local Tab, but when trying to debug, I prefer to select the variables I want to watch. Also being able to change the order of the variables would be nice as well. For example, put a Loop counter at the top and then have variable that are modified in the loop processing below.

Make RDE USB-friendly

RDE v1.0.1.1 stores main settings in the registry. This
doesn't make RDE well suited for running from an
ordinary USB memory.

There should be an option to store settings in e.g. an
ini-file in the same path as RDE.exe.

Suggestion: Upon start of RDE, first check if there is
an ini-file with the main settings in the same path as
the main executable.
* If such a file exists, the registry is ignored. (USB
mode)
* If there isn't such a file, look for settings in the
registry. (Installed mode)

Furthermore, one could also consider adding an option
to RDE's options menu, for creating an ini-file with
the main settings. Alternatively, a sample ini-file
with example settings could be included in the
distribution.

Filemanager - explorer window

filemanager or explorer-like window to make openning
files in directories easier [for example working with
rails dirtree/files]

Allow users to set tab spacing

Hi,

It appears that you can currently only set the tab
spacing to a multiple of 2. Can you please allow users
to set it to whatever value they wish?

I prefer 3 myself. :)

Project/session management

RDE rocks as an editor. I have been using it for a year
and a half. Every once in a while I look for other
editors but I can't find a better one. I especially
like the bird's view to quicky browse through my code.

The only thing I really miss in RDE is the ability to
work with project; to be able to associate several
files under a project and browse and open all of them
at a time.

Currently I have a batch file that does

rde.exe file1.rb file2.rb file3.rb ...

so that I can open my most used files simultaneously.

delete words with ctrl-del and ctrl-backspace

Other editors allow ctrl-del and ctrl-backspace to
delete next and previous words. It is a simple deature
that saves time.

file selector

Would be nice if the code explorer can be optionally
replaced with a "file selector". when working with
large projects, a file seletor sidebar is almost
indispensable.

color highlight variables within strings

Currently variables in strings are not easily
distinguishable
would be nice if variables can be hilighted with
a different color to that of the string color.

eg,

message = "hello #{name}"

#{name} can be in different color.

an extra one for "selected text"
