Fluffy the SMTPGuardDog works as a proxy SMTP Server to reduce viruses and spam coming in to an existing SMTP server. The major improvements in version 1.5 are the ability to weight different DNSBL lists and control message handling based on a total weighted score, significant speed improvements in the processing of messages.

Other changes include detection of spammers getting inadvertently tar pitted while being validated, the option to send log files to multiple syslog devices, the ability to control the detail of debug level logging, right click menu on the display console to freeze the display, and to copy display log text, general GUI and colour improvements, and the separation of active and inactive DNSBL lists.

Fluffy the SMTPGuardDog works as a proxy SMTP Server to reduce viruses and spam coming in to an existing SMTP server. The major improvements in version 1.1 are the ability to specify whether each DNSBL is to be used to block or to warn only and a monitoring option so you can get a report if an IP or domain name is listed on a DNSBL

Other changes include parsing subject lines using character set encodings for matching against blacklisted header contents, a global option to log actions only, in addition to block or warn (applies to DNSBL and spam traps only), a sanity check so we only use DNSBL that appear to be working correctly (don't use ones that reject everybody), explictly deny support for BDAT/CHUNKING and XEXCH50 until these are supported, explicit recognition and handling of all known extended SMTP commands, an option to log IP addresses we consider valid and invalid, suitable for submitting to spam monitoring services, and bug fixes detailed in the change log.

URGENT: REMOVE *.OSIRUSOFT.COM from DNSBL lists

You should remove or disable all references to OSIRUSOFT.COM in your DNSBL lists.

relays.osirusoft.com is a default entry in Fluffy.

Osirusoft.com has shut up shop, and is currently sending a negative ('junk mail warning') message for ALL email senders. So if you are using this DNSBL, anything not in your whitelist and not cached, will be rejected as junk mail.

I will work on a method of detecting an aberrant DNSBL in the next version of Fluffy.

DNSRBL change recommended

Fluffy comes with a default DNSRBL list. This listing includes dnsbl.sorbs.net. If you are using this DNSRBL I recommend editing the entry for dnsbl.sorbs.net to ignore the response code 127.0.0.10 ; this code is supposed to identify dial-up connections but I have found it unreliable in this area and liable to block legitimate email.

Blocking Hotmail exploit used for spamming

I have improved the wildcard matching of domain names in white/black lists. This is primarily because of a security flaw in Microsoft's Hotmail which is allowing spammers to send their spam through Hotmail using a DAV interface. I don't want to block all of Hotmail but I can block the DAV spam by blacklisting the domain *dav*.hotmail.com

Fluffy the SMTPGuardDog works as a proxy SMTP Server to reduce viruses and spam coming in to an existing SMTP server. The major improvements in version 1.0 are adding the ability to block messages based on wildcard text string matches against message headers, and sending a 'pass-through' email address when m,essages are blocked

Other changes include fixing in bug in applying all wildcard domain matches, improved performance over the 0.9 version and handling shrinking the connection cache without errors. The option to automatically download and install updates has been removed as this system needs further testing.

Fluffy the SMTPGuardDog works as a proxy SMTP Server to reduce viruses and spam coming in to an existing SMTP server. The major improvements in version 0.9 are adding the ability to black- and white-list of IP address ranges using a subnet mask, and to redirect email addressed to one address (including wildcard matches) to another address.

Other changes include improved speed in loading large connection caches on startup and rewriting the connection handler as a timer driven loop rather than event driven data arrival. The latter change should improve handling on busy systems. Bug fixes include running on a clean install with no IP black/white list preset, ability to remove spamtrap/white/black list entries without a restart, handling a connection cache larger than 32767, and not sending a daily status report more than once a day.

Fluffy the SMTPGuardDog works as a proxy SMTP Server to reduce viruses and spam coming in to an existing SMTP server. The major improvements in version 0.8 are an improved wildcard matching of white/blacklisted domain names. So now you can match domain names of the pattern *dav*.hotmail.com which allows you to block spammers exploting the DAV vulnerability in Hotmail without needing to block all of Hotmail.com

Other changes include the fixing of a bug in handling certain types of nested MIME messages.

The major improvements in version 0.7 are the ability to block a user-specified list of attachment types, supporting Sophos Antivirus for Windows NT/2000/XPadding antivirus, and reporting of the numbers of messages accepted, reject and deferred.

Other changes:
* Added blocking of partial mail messages
* Added option to test non-enabled DNSBL servers
* Handle cases of missing MIME boundaries of internally nested multipart messages
* Fixed bug in disabling DNSBL servers
