It is well worth it Ian. PostgreSQL is very faithful to SQL-92, so what you
learn would apply to Sybase, SQL Server, and even Oracle to some degree.

Once you start using integrity constraints, triggers, etc. to enforce data
semantics, you'll never be able to not use them again. The meaning in a
database is captured in the constraints, not the data.
