Most RS232 DB9 to USB adapters simply don't support the kind of low-level access to wire state which TI's special protocol used by the official BlackLink / unofficial "$4 cable" equivalent requires. On even remotely modern computers, the usual, sound advice is to just use a SilverLink (TI-GraphLink USB) for communication with older TI calculator models through the proprietary 2.5mm stereo jack plug using the DBUS protocol :)

TI-85 And Windows 11

hello, does anyone know how to get to work TiLP on windows 11 and TI-85? All the time getting error message that cable hasn't been open before and dhahelper not installed . Using black serial cable and serial to USB adapter. Thanks for any advice.

connect to Ti85 from win11

libti*, gfm and tilp only deal with transferring data to/from TI graphing calculators (and in the development version, some pieces of lab equipment related to such calculators).
Detokenization, edition and tokenization of programs are performed by other programs; TI's official GraphLink software from at least 20 years ago targeting contemporary versions of Windows comes to my mind, but off the top of my head, I'm not sure which newer pieces of software might support the aforementioned operations on TI-85 programs...

connect to Ti85 from win11

Just wanted to thank for this thread. I was able to get my important programs from my TI85 calculator to PC (Ubuntu 22.04). I didn't realize that one needs to select the files and set to be transmitted on calculatir side and click TILP to receive them.

another question: can one transform the program files into readable listings?

thanks for the great software!

connect to Ti85 from win11

Use 2nd + LINK, then:
* F1 to set the calculator in send mode and select what you want to send from the calculator for TILP to receive;
* F2 to set the calculator in receive mode before sending from TILP.

connect to Ti85 from win11

Thanks for the replay...
to capture the screen from the calculator (refering to my previus photo) I just double screen -> refresh capture.
How to put the calculator in a mode where it could send and recieve?

ps: I'm using USB- to serial converter cable, and the TI cable the gray link.

connect to Ti85 from win11

It's a good thing that screenshots work, it means that your Windows computer is correctly configured :)
Unlike newer models, the 85 and 82 do not support so-called silent linking mode for variable / backup transfer: on the calculator side, they need to be manually put into send / receive mode.
So, is it what you're doing when attempting to communicate with TILP ? I'm asking because I've already seen other persons unaware that the 85 & 82 only support non-silent linking mode for transferring non-screenshot data.

connect to Ti85 from win11

Hello,
trying to connect to ti-85 from win11, I can get screen capture.. but can not send, receive, backup and restore

when try to communicate, I get the following message:
Msg: timeout occured while reading from the device.

Well, I'm not sure what happens in the case you describe: it's been years since I started always recommending users to uninstall the distro packages before attempting to build libti*/gfm/tilp, TIEmu (if that's still possible on modern distros...) or TilEm, in order to avoid potential interference between the distro packages and the headers + binaries being built and installed :)

Which calculator and cable are you using ?

FWIW, starting from the next release - when I produce it - packages for future releases of Debian and derivative distros will contain the TI-Z80 and TI-68k ROM/Flash dumpers out of the box, because I rewrote / converted them in such a way that they can be built from source using programs packaged by Debian and derivatives. Only the TI-eZ80 ROM dumper will remain disabled by Debian, because there's no eZ80 assembler in the Debian archives, AFAICT.

Bye,
Lionel.

TI84 data transfer

Ok, I managed to install TILP2 and it says, it is Version 1.19 and I put the libticables.rules file to the udev-folder. The script is really well done - even I understood your explanations and error messages :)
But the problem remains: The calculator is found and I can read from it. But I can't send files, or, well, it once worked - but then nothing again. Not as root, not as user :(

Any ideas?
