Could we have a way to reposition all applicable open windows with one (hotkey?) please?

Let the user decide about using the recycle bin

Hi Kalle,

With introducing the desktop saving option, the log and a file from the temporary folder are now moved to the recycle bin.

I would be nice to be able to decide on ones own, if this is needed.

I would not move the file from the temporary folder at all, but just delete it entirely, since it was temporary anyway.
Keeping the last copy of the log might be good, but the number of logs in the recycle bin will build up, which should be prevented.

Thanks in advance,
Problem:
If one launches a program, Your program looks for the window-title (the excact one !)
Windows always changes the title of the title-bar to reflect
the current "window"
e.g.
1 Word:
Document1 - Microsoft Word
2 TV:
Das Erste - TVCenter

Solution:
Check parts of the title-bar
1 Word: ---------> Microsoft Word (never mind which document)
2 TV: ----------> TVCenter (never mind which broadcaster)

Im giving two snapshots
and the winsize2.ini which describes the problem (AWNr_15)

Look an 001.jpg...wrong position
then I switch the channel
Look at 002.jpg....right position.......this matches the line in winsize2.ini
what I suggest only to look at partial strings (maybe as an option) ,
here "TVCenter"

TIA

Please switch from polling to events

Hello,

if I understand WinSize2 correctly, it polls for new windows (at least this is what "Interval: check for new window titles" suggests).
An event-based approach should be way less resource-burden than polling every n msecs.

I don't know AHK that well, but I think it can act event-based as well: it provides an OnMessage() function (http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/commands/OnMessage.htm) and there is a WM_CREATE message (http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/misc/SendMessageList.htm).

As far as I understand it, something like OnMessage(WM_CREATE, handleNewWindow) should execute the handleNewWindow() every time a new window is created.

Thanks for your work & regards

currently, single configuration entries in WinSize2 are identified by their respecive window title (or mask).
Unfortunately, there is software out there where it is not easy to infer from the window title back to the issuing software. This makes it hard to find and/or modify entries later.

Therefore, it would be great to have an opportunity to add an optional comment to single configuration entries. This would make it much more easy to recover entries belonging to some specific software later.
It would also be great to be able to select entries by their comments.

Thanks for your work & regards
The Window Class name is provided by Windows and mostly is specific to the application which owns the window.
Example: A Windows Explorer window has no unique window title (the selected folder which is very dynamic).
The Window Class name ("ExploreWClass" in this case) is a better criteria to identify any Windows Explorer main window.

Various

22Apr2009
Greetings.
Thanks for continuing to develop WinSize2 (WS2).
My ini file(s) now have more than 100 entries.
That's more than 100 annoying WinXP popups now under control.
I have been using ahk for years to control XP windows (especially at launch)
but (until finding WS2) did not have a way to control all the annoying WinXP popups.

1)
The WS2 doc says in the future "Edit ini file" will be killed.
My feedback is that the Special Parameters screen is too hard to manage with 100 items.
I have to either click forward or backwards up to 50 times.
Maybe you could change the Special Parameters screen to be like
the standard info windows that NirSoft uses? Sort of like a spreadsheet ...
I also had to create an XL sort routine to resort the ini file entries alphabetically.

2)
Maybe you could add advanced features where advanced ahk users
could add extra identifiers like ahk_class or ahk_pid, window text, exclude window text & etc?

Thank you.
Regards,
