Hi, folks. Something that has been asked of me for quite a while is to move Xiphos development off SourceForge to GitHub. This move is now under way. For readers of the users' mailing list, this has minimal impact: 1. The current SF-based mailing lists will be shut down and all its members will be mass-subscribed to xip...@cr... when Troy gets around to creating the lists. 2. New distribution of Xiphos releases will occur somewhere under https://github.com/crosswire/xiphos though I have yet to figure out the release procedure. I'll send an intro note when the new mailing list has come to life and this one is being shut down. --karl |

Yes Fred and others, I have the Xiphos Bible program and would likewise like a copy of the older RSV (legal) Bible. My copy from college many years ago is beat up :). Hi all!
I was searching for a RSV module t'other day and was somewhat surprised
that I couldn't find one in Sword, Sword-beta, Kleinpaste, or ebible
repos. Can anyone point me to a (legal) RSV module for Sword?
thanks!

Oops, sorry, it slipped my mind.
Response on sword-devel indicated that the underlying problem is
that the existing Personal module was generated years ago when KJV
was the only supported versification. Basically, it needs to be
regenerated using KJVA v11n. Apparently I could add code to Xiphos
to re-generate it internally, but frankly that seems like a whole
lot of work that hasn't got nearly enough useful generality to
justify it. I will see what it will take to create an updated
Personal -- call it PersonalKJVA or somesuch. Give me a week or
so.

That's an interesting situation. I suspect
the underlying problem is that Personal has no specified
versification, so defaults to KJV.
You might experiment with manually editing "Versification=KJVA"
into personal.conf and try again.

I'm new to Xiphos. I searched for a solution but did not found it, so I'm asking here. I tried to edit the personal commentary with reference to a Deuterocanonical book but the commentary is saved as referred to Rev 1:1. Is there anything that I can do? Thanks. |

Karl, the ~/jungledisk/Sword folder does not contain a /.sword folder. ~/jungledisk/Xiphos doesn't contain a ./xiphos folder. I opened /.sword and copied the sub-folders to ~/jungledisk/Sword and the comparable for /.xiphos. Karl, I use jungledisk. It mounts at /home/<name>/jungledisk. I created Sword and Xiphos directories at jungledisk. Then, copied the file contents for those folders from the ./sword and ./xiphos folders of my home directory. Then, I used your linking instructions as follows: * ln -sfv ~/jungledisk/Sword ~/.sword * ln -sfv ~/jungledisk/Xiphos ~/.xiphos The links appeared to process properly. However, when I start Xiphos, I get the initial dialog telling me there is no content and I need to install some modules. Xiphos 4.0.4 - Implemented dynamic allocation enhancement to replace survivability fix. - Updated language abbreviations to eliminate unknowns. - Fixed module installation messages so they are not lost. - Fixed abbrev support, to show abbrevs in all non-essential contexts. - Fixed maximization restoral (mostly gtk3; partial for gtk2). Source tarball and win32/64 builds available now. Linux repo availability...as soon as the packagers can get around to it. |

I don't do it with .xiphos because that configuration varies within the VMs. The point is merely that Xiphos needs to see ~/.xiphos and ~/.sword but whether the content is right there or indirectly found somewhere else doesn't matter. |

Good morning group. I am self-employed and as such, sometimes have time during the day for Bible study while at work. Is it possible to relocate the .sword folder to a cloud drive so I can have access to my notes whether at home or the office? Sure would save the hassle I now have - pasting the file to my cloud drive after I've made changes so that I can download it to whichever computer doesn't have the latest and greatest. Xiphos has always offered some amount of print support, but it's
always been kind of minimal. Xiphos doesn't do anything with
the content within itself; Xiphos just pulls the text in and
throws it over the wall to the system print support processes.
So there isn't, for example, any editor support for ensuring
convenient page breaks other than what you already do, manually
inserting breaks.<br>

I suppose that what I now wonder is why the system print
processes don't already provide that sort of obvious and
convenient break.<br>

Good afternoon. Long-time Xiphos user (v. 4) with a question about printing material from journal/prayer list/studypad. If I wish to print any of my notes (regardless of where created within Xiphos), I frequently have to open the editor to insert line breaks so that text doesn't "bleed over" two pages. And, of course, this can rarely be done in one iteration as I insert breaks, print to PDF, look at PDF, and see what's now bleeding over that wasn't before. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Surely I'm not the only one who regularly prints journals, prayer lists, or study pad notes! Thanks, John -- Sent via Thunderbird Running on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS |

I would like to browse to a particular location using the available GUI controls then use normal keyboard keys continue reading without using pulldown menus to move over chapter boundaries. Could not find how to page-down over chapter boundaries in 15 min of searching manual nor archives so... |
