Dear SAGA users and friends,
we like to announce the SAGA bug-fix-release version 9.12.2. Reason for the second early bug-fix-release is a program crash that possibly occurs running the Import Landsat Scene tool (reported and reproduced under MSW, other OS might not have been affected).

Dear SAGA users and friends,
we like to announce the SAGA bug-fix-release version 9.12.1. The only reason for this early bug-fix-release is a compilation error when linking to wxWidgets version < 3.3 (i.e. 3.2).

Dear SAGA users and friends,
we like to announce the SAGA bug-fix-release version 9.11.3. The only difference to previous release 9.11.2 is a single fix addressing a compilation issue with wxWidgets version 3.2 (suggested is wxWidgets-3.3 anyway, but very likely it is not packaged for all systems).

Dear SAGA users and friends,
we like to announce the release of SAGA version 9.11.0. You will find a number of bug fixes as well as a stream lining of data set context menus and similar. Most notable in this release is the seamless CHELSA climate data integration with the CHELSA - Global Climate Data tool. Besides variables related to current climate CHELSA provides future projections, monthly and daily time series (starting generally with the year 1980) and a centennial data set covering the last 21 thousand years. Other new features comprise more options calculating Analytical Hillshading and the derivation of categorical aggregations with the Grid Statistics for Polygons tool.

Dear SAGA users and friends,
we like to announce the release of SAGA version 9.10.0. New features in this version comprise a 'hachure' mode for grid overlay in maps, a histogram equalize option for graduated color classifications, a new copy-to-clipboard option for tool descriptions (markdown format), full alpha channel (transparency) support loading and saving image files (including KML/KMZ and clipboard-copying of maps), advanced date/time support by the API class CSG_DateTime with first implementations in related tools, e.g. a new GPX live track function tool. A typing stub has been added to PySAGA to enable auto-completion of SAGA API objects in integrated development environments like VS-Code. Further tools have been added, e.g. for automated DGM1 downloads (Saxony, Brandenburg, Thuringia...), and last but not least a first version of the SCIMAP toolkit (risk maps for diffuse pollution), a contribution of Sim Reaney. we like to announce the release of SAGA version 9.9.0. Besides many bug fixes you will find quite a number of new features. A major GUI feature is the new data related toolbar that let's you access frequently used commands directly. Menus have been widely restructured, command and setting names have been made more conform with that of other programs. The list of recently used tools will now persist through sessions and is (by default) not appended to the bottom of the geoprocessing menu but moved to a sub-menu ('recent tools'). Classification methods - now accessible through a more intuitive dialog - and color stretch options have been unified for all geo-data types. Further tools have been added to facilitate access to online available elevation data. Justus added a very nice tool for GPS tag extraction from images, but his most notable work was focusing on cloud and cloud shadow mask creation from satellite imagery.... read more

GUI features comprise a streamlined file menu, a more consistent structure for data related context menus, clipboard pasting of tabular data as table and images as raster, and a window finder. A few tools related to the processing of elevation data have been added: digital elevation models (DEMs) can now be created directly from LiDAR data files like LAZ/LAS thus avoiding huge memory demands. Two further tools address the automated download and ready-to-use preparation of CGIAR CSI SRTM and Copernicus DSM elevation data. Subsequent DEM processing is fostered by new compound analysis tools with focus on morphometric and hydrologic parameterization, channel networks, and terrain classification.... read more
