Alright... using CloneZilla was one of the biggest decisions of my life and yes, CloneZilla did convinced me to do that. I am from IT background, particularly software... but i do have a little bit of interest in hardware too. So, i have a laptop around 3 years old and wanted to replace my harddrive with a new one.
The plan was to replace my existing working Toshiba 500GB harddrive with a new WD 500GB harddrive... CloneZilla did the Job Amazingly and i has almost no issues with anything at all.
I love CloneZIlla and would recommend it to anyone who is trying to Clone either a Windows or Ubuntu(linux) hard drive as it works perfectly with them. Please note that it works with other system too... but i have only tested it on these two for now.

What is the "quantal" package? Sorry, that was in the "alternative release notes" page: clonezilla.org/downloads/alternative/release-notes Quote: "The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Ubuntu Quantal repository (as of 2012/Nov/26)."

On an acer netbook AOD-270 it takes ~2 hours to create an image with Ghost 11.5.1. With Clonezilla it takes ~20 minutes.

Worked great! I downloaded the live CD and burned it. Then took it to where I needed it, booted off it, and, in beginner mode, cloned a HD with a new ubuntu server install, grub in the boot sector, swap partition and all. The copy HD worked just as good as the original. Excellent! The only caveat is there were some error messages while the MB was booting off the CD, but they seemed not to matter.

Clonezilla works! It is very fast. It is free. It is STILL in development and will only get better as time passes. As it is, Clonezilla provides peace-of-mind for both Linux desktop users, and enterprise users. I thank you very much for this reliable and excellent project! Your work is much appreciated! And to you b****ers and moaners.... did I mention it is FREE???

Incredible program. Does what it's supposed to do and with a minimum of hassle. Acronis failed to do the job in cloning my 500G Drive to my new 750G drive. Clonezilla allowed the main partition to be larger and all worked perfectly. I can't say enough about how well the program worked.

It just works.

I used Clonezilla to save my win xp data to a new drive when the old one was dying. I'm very pleased with the results and recommend it to everyone who needs the help this program provides. Thanks to the developers of this outstanding tool! I've been wanting to purchase a tool such as this for a long time but couldn't afford the outrageous prices; when I discovered Clonezilla I was delighted! I first created a backup to a USB HD, then cloned the old drive to the new and larger drive. I had no problems except those from failing to RTFI! I recommend that everyone read the Quick Reference Guide at a minimum BEFORE trying to use it. Michael
