Marcus Software - Invoicing | A/R | Inventory Ver 2a
At this time, Marcus Software is distributed active or educational. The system itself is free.
See the info below to see how to install the system. You can study it using the access runtime. AFrnd.accdr is for the runtime. AFrnd2a.accd is for full Access. If you want to print Invoices and reports, you need to have Access. It also has to be running on Windows 11. Otherwise, you can just use access runtime, which is included for free. The program has been tested under 32bit Access, and 32/64 bit Windows OS. You need to install AccessRuntime.exe before running under the runtime. This is done when you install the APP.
Note that portions of the system not implemented yet have red button captions. Portions of the system implemented should work. If you find a problem, email ballweiss55@gmail.com
For multi-user use, you need to install each client, and move the backend data file on any network accessible drive (to which you set the Data Path on the SignIn screen).
Limitations: You need to wait 5 to 10 seconds before clicking the View/Print option box. Otherwise you might get a blank report. Also, after installing, right click the programs Windows Icon, and select Properties. Then change the Run option to Minimize. This will improve the appearance of the program by minimizing the Access execution window's appearance. Finally, when Logging Out the program, be sure that Access is shut down (i.e. the Access Icon is closed).
If you previously had the wrong Fiscal Year Begin Month, change it to the correct one at the bottom of the Company Information Screen.
Introduction:
Marcus Software is an accounting system that provides the basic billing and related accounting procedures for a small business. Typical businesses might be Accounting, Law, Product Resale, Computer Programming, Website Design, Repair, Training, or others. You do the billing with the system, and at the end of the day prepare your bank deposit, and record it on MSF's daily cash system. The daily system is also used to manage payments on A/R, miscellaneous income and expenses. The daily system prints reports on all aspects of the daily cash accounting.
Receivables are created when filing an invoice, and are paid in the daily cash when received from the customer. Receivable aging and statements are printed at any time from a menu in the program.
Inventory is input into the system from a form. Product number, description, cost, price, and other information is easily entered. Sales of inventory then is entered in the invoice writeup. A detailed report, giving quantity on hand, sales price, unit cost, year to date sales and cost, and profit is available for all products.
See the Manual for more information.

Installation:
Marcus Software comes as a Windows Application written in MS-Access 2010 - 2025. It has the following directory structure held in the AFrnd.exe file: AFrnd.exe
Executing the MSFrnd2a.exe file will create the following directories and files/databases.
c:\u\MSFrnd2a\AccFE\DatDEM.accdb
\Datbln.accdb
\Datdfl.accdb
c:\u\MSFrnd2a\AccFE\AFrnd.accdb
\AFrnd.accdr
\setupaccessruntimeretail.x86.en-us_.exe
\setupaccessruntimeretail.x64.en-us_.exe
\AFrndMAN.pdf
c:\u\MSFrnd2a\readme\readme.txt
\AFrndMAN.pdf
To install the system, the AFrnd.exe file copies the BE (or Backend databases) to the following directory on the machine you are running AFrnd from:
c:\users\public\applicationdata\MSFrnd2a\
You must put the Datbln.accdb and Datdfl.accdb databases in this directory. However, you can put any other backend databases on any directory on your computer, or network. The Signin Screen lets you select where to find, or create, a backend database.
To run in the Access Runtime, first install the runtime you want (provided in distribution), and then click Afrnd.accdr or the Desktop Icon (MSFrnd2a). If you want to print on a printer, click on the Afrnd2a.accdb file on the desktop.
The first time you start the program, you need to set the backend database directory to the one discussed just above. It may already be set to the directory shown above for the Backend database. The lookup button for this is at the bottom of the SignIn screen. You probably want to first either use the DatDEM.accdb demo database to play with the system. Otherwise put in a login other than DEM 999 and you will be asked if you want to create a new database (either bln or blank, or dfl default). For example, if you name is Washington you might chose your BE database ID as "WSH" The login is always "999"
See the Help file and the Manual for further instructions. This should get you started.
