Implemented OpenEMR August 2012. Startup cost 5.99. Workflow about 85% compared to paper records, but improving. Very helpful Forums. Wiki is expanding. Successful MU attestation for 2012. If this is not a testimonial, I don't know what is.

The best opensource Health Care solution I have seen!
-
Great software. The UI looks a little dated, but it's free, open, and solid.

PHP, EMR and OSS are a natural fit especially in outpatient settings where providers may be logging in from any web enabled device.

Like program very much. Still a little buggy in my hands, and will post Q shortly. For most part though, it is doing everything I need it to do. Linda E. Hungerford M.D. Illinois USA

After disappointing results with Office Ally and then Practice Fusion we discovered OpenEMR and with less than 500 bucks worth of hardware (a micro server and router) we were up and running in one day. This is the solution we hoped for, I only wish we had discovered it first! We can't thank you enough. My advice is to get started with the right system the first time, choose OpenEMR. UPDATE; Over two years and 1750 patients later we've saved an estimated 250,000 dollars by using OpenEMR versus a commercial package. We have achieved an incredible level of office automation with e-claims, e-prescriptions, text message appointment reminders, document scanning, patient status updates and medication consent forms. With the exception of routine maintenance and updates, our system has been online 24/7 since March of 2012.

We have deployed openEMR in several small physician clinics and specialty clinic settings with great success. It is indeed one of the easiest one to customize among the few opensource EMR options available.

There are plenty of reasons to opt for this application: 1. It is free (as in free speech) and open source software; this means the user is not tied down to a specific, exclusive vendor who can impose a chokehold on him/her - also, the user can (hire someone to) tailor the application to his/her specific needs and requirements. 2. It is a complete, fully integrated EMR and practice management application. 3. It is fully scalable. It can serve every kind of health service provider: from a doctor's personal practice to a chain of hospitals and clinics. 4. It is under constant, active development, with very frequent bugfixes, upgrades, enhancements and improvements being incorporated on a daily basis. 5. It is cross-platform. Of course, this is clearly a large application, which is at its best if it is set up by a skilled system administrator; it is not for complete novices. Then again, neither are large-scale applications like OpenERP, SAP etc.
