The good thing about OpenEMR is that the clinic is not stuck on a proprietary software that they can not develop nor troubleshoot. OpenEMR code is "open" meaning any expert in LAMP, and there are many out there, can try to understand what is going on with a clinic using OpenEMR. And to be more specific there are many software vendors listed in the OpenEMR site that are already expert in the operation of this software. This chaacteristic allows the clinic to get help on OpenEMR from anywhere. Try that with the other thousands of EMR software out there. Other advantages: 1. Completely license free. 2.

Love the open self programmable options. Having the open structure makes it also a challenge to get the right options for personal use in place. If it is not there, the active community has most of the time a quick good solution for the problem. With diligent use of OpenEMR during a 90 day window in 2011, both physicians in our family practice qualified for the Medicare incentive. The open nature of OpenEMR suggests to me it will thrive even as proprietary systems bit the dust.

OpenEMR gives me freedom. We are not stuck with what someone elses' opinion of how things should be, look or operate. No-one else owns our data. If we don't like something, we don't have to live with it, we can do something about it: now!. Sure, there may be a few nice features in *some* commercial EMR's that OpenEMR does not yet match in quality, but the reverse is also true. In distribution, set-up, back-ups, scalability and overall availability of data, OpenEMR's web-based approach blows the others away. Furthermore, the intensity of development for OpenEMR seems to outpace other products. I can think of a lot of features that OpenEMR did not have two years ago, one year ago, six months ago, one month ago....and the pace is not slowing down.

A useful and beautiful piece of software..allows you to do anything...so much customizable..everything you want in an EMR is there in OpenEMR..I use it in my daily practice with full efficiency...The Support here is great...and the people are always ready with the support regarding any question asked...a great software. This is the real deal. A fully certified comprehensive EMR under open source license.

This medical record and practice management software has already obtained ONC MU certification and is rapidly moving to compete on par with commercial software solutions. It has a vibrant support community from both no charge contributors and helpful vendors. Try it, you'll like it. Jack

Very active and supportive community, most updated and feature rich EMR

Using for one year; does everything I need. Created many custom forms for my office. Running on MacBook Pro in a VMWare Fusion virtual machine, Ubuntu download, set up by local a local IT firm. Love it. Love it better not having to pay Lytec.

we are currently using it to run a 300 patient single-physician practice. It is mainly used for handling the billing. A few minor bugs but these are never a problem. Good application.

Great work by developers for a good cause. I just wish that the organizations and governments change their attitude towards open source software. One day I wish OpenEMR to be as popular as firefox or apache!

We are working with openEMR for one year and it works fine in our clinic with several doctors. We have to learn some more about SMS and billing because these functions we do not know how to use, but we are very happy with the software. Thank you project team.

As a long time contributor the this project and a consultant on OpenEMR I can report that the Doctors that I have worked with all think that OpenEMR is the easiest to use and most flexible and most cost effective EMR and practice management system available. Not the prettiest... but fast and simple.

So far best EMR for the price and the features. We used www.cloudarya.com for the installation and for the support and we have nothing but the good experience. We still need to be able to use the full features but what we have currently is beyond our expectation. Four years ago started a small office. Did not want to spend a lot of money on hardware or software however wanted a paperless office. OpenEMR was just the ticket. This system is rock solid and I still have not implemented a fraction of its features. Community is great and service is readily available if needed at very reasonable rates. Highly recommended.
